I've heard there are no lilacs in south/central Florida. Is this true?

I'm afraid it's true. Lilacs cannot tolerate the summer heat and humidity, plus they need a pronounced winter chill in order to flower. Even the heat tolerant types such as Blue Sky will eventually die. Sorry!
