I have a vegetable garden that I love but I am ready to call it quits. For the life of me I can not seem to keep the grass out. My job is pretty demanding and some times I do not get home until 7:00pm even 7:30. Then I spend what ever time I have left with my kids before they are off to bed around 8:00 and then it is dark. No time to get out there to weed. Please help!!!!!!!!!

You can smother those weeds by laying folded newspapers or cardboard over the bare soil and then covering over with straw, grass clippings or compost. Eliminating sunlight penetration to the soil will stop weed seeds from germinating so no new weeds should emerge once you have the mulch in place. Next year you can get a head start on the problem by covering over the entire vegetable bed with weed barrier landscape cloth and then cutting holes or slits in the cloth to sow your seeds or plant your transplants.
