Last year my red poppy plant bloomed but the leaves turned yellow and died. I thought the plant died but this spring the leaves came back and it bloomed again. This spring, the same thing is happening again. What do you think is wrong? |
There's nothing wrong with your poppy. When it flowers it sets seeds and then it dies down. It's perfectly natural and normal. Some kinds of poppies bloom early in the summer and others bloom all summer long. Yours is the type that flowers early and then rests until the next year. If it leaves an empty space in your garden you might want to plant something else near it that blooms for a longer period of time. Enjoy your poppy while it is blooming, but expect it to die down and rest after flowering is finished. Enjoy your garden! |
