| Black locust is considered to have allelopathic qualities. This means that it inhibits the growth of other plants and will especially stop seeds from germinating. The allelopathic chemicals are in the roots, leaves and fruits of the plant so they are probably in your soil, as well. In order to grow turfgrass you'll need to add fresh topsoil over the area so the chemicals are not so concentrated where you want grass seeds to grow. Wish I had a better solution for you! |
