Is this Nepeta the same as catnip they give to cats? What do you do to make it Catnip? Do you need to add something to it? Or do you need to dry it? Any Ideas?

Nepeta cataria is the catnip that cats like. Nepeta mussinii is another type of cat mint but it doesn't have the same volatile oils and is not as favored by cats. Usually the plant is dug and hung upside down to dry in a dark, dry, well-ventilated place (e.g., an attic) to minimize loss of volatile oil. Then the leaves are crushed and the stems cut into small pieces and placed in burlap or cloth bags for cats to play with. Best wishes with your cat mint.
