The leaves on my tomato plants are getting black spots, then turning yellow and shriveling up. Branch by branch it keeps getting worse. I have been taking off the dead branches as they die, but now my plants are looking very sparse. Please help.

Black spots can indicate either a fungal or bacterial disease but I can't tell which without seeing the plant. Usually a copper based fungicide will help protect unaffected plant parts. Ortho Multi-Purpose Fungicide is registered for use on tomato plants. Be sure to apply according to label directions. Best wishes with your plants.
