The Q&A Archives: transplanting flowers

Question: I want to move some lilies oanother area in order to use that area for a Jjapannese shrub. When is the besttime to do it..theyare just now bloominng. Thank you!!

Answer: If you move your lilies now you will interrupt the blooming process and the foliage may die down, which may cause them not to bloom again next year. It will be best to wait until fall after the tops are killed by frost and the bulbs are dormant. Otherwise, you risk killing the plants and the bulbs, too. Wish I had better news for you!
