The Q&A Archives: Some True Blue Flowers

Question: I want to plant a patriotic red, white and blue garden this year. In the past I have not seen many true blue flowers (at least not in my local stores) they all look purple to me. Are there any annuals that are blue? I live in southern PA and they will be planted in full sun.Thank you! Susie F Philadelphia, PA

Answer: These might be "true" blue: Ageratums, Cynoglossum amabile (Chinese forget-me-not), cornflower (Centaurea cyanus 'Blue Diadem' name one specific cultivar), Felicia bergeriana (Kingfisher daisy), Delphinium 'Summer Skies', Felicia amelloides (Blue marguerites)Myosostis sylvatica 'Blue Bird' (Forget-me-not), Nemophila menziesii (Nemophila or baby blue eyes), Nigella damascena (Nigella), Phacelia campanlaria (Phacelia), or Anagallis linifolia (Pimpernel). Have Fun!
