The Q&A Archives: pussy willow

Question: I planted a pussy willow sapling this spring. It is starting to develop brown spots on the new leaves. What is causing this and what can I do to stop it?

Answer: Brown spots can be a sign of a fungal infection so you might want to apply a fungicide to the leaves of the plant. There are several brands available. Look for a sulfur based or copper based fungicide in the garden section and apply according to label directions. Repeat sprays may be required. Best wishes with your landscape!
