| I have 2 alberts spruce trees and one is dead in the middle but has growth on the ends. Is there a way to fill this in so it doesn't show. what can I do? I also have 2 tall ones that are cut in a squiggle. One is doing great the other one is fine accept for the back which is at least 1-2 feet away from the house but it look brown on one side. These were were very expesive. What can I do? |
| Spruce's tend to lose the needles in the middle of the plant as they grow older. Sometimes spider mites or other insects can speed this process up. About the only way to hide the centers is to prune carefully each spring (just as new growth is emerging) to encourage thicker outer growth. You might try hosing off the centers of your evergreens every month or so during the growing season to discourage insect pests. Same advice for the two plants near your house. Lightly prune them back and they should develop new foliage. Good luck with your landscape. |
