| I would like to nurture my recently planted Wisteria into a tree or bush as opposed to a "climber". Can you give me any advice on how to proceed? It was transplanted last fall to a nice sunny spot in the back yard - I don't want a formal look to the spot - no fancy trellis or arbor! The little Wisteria is doing great - it's about 4 feet tall. |
| The best way to train a wisteria into a tree shape is to start while the vine is young, so this is the perfect time to begin. Simply train it to a tree shape by tying it to a sturdy post. A fairly loose "figure eight" with one loop around the post and one loop around the vine works well. Eventually, the vine will thicken and become strong enough to support the "tree" by all itself. Be sure to loosen and eventually remove the ties. Good luck with your project! |
