Worms in my onions II - Knowledgebase Question

As I stated before, the worms in my onions are 4 to 6 in. in length. 1 to 2 mm. in width. Some are all yellow & some are yellow on both ends but greyish/brown in the center. What are they and how dangerous to my garden are they?

They sound like onion maggots, but I can't tell for sure without seeing them. Here's a website with photos and descriptions:
