Bougainvilleas bloom on about a 6 week cycle and they produce flowers on new growth. So to encourage lots of flowers, prune yours back immediately after flowers are spent. The plant will rest, then growth, then bloom, then rest. By pruning right after flowers are spent you will encourage lots of new growth and lots of new flowers. Enjoy!
