I want to put down mulch around my garden which is half-moon shaped. Water seems to be building up around the perimeter of it when it rains...3-4 inches. What should be done to stop this from happening?

I think a curtain drain, or at least a trench filled with gravel will help divert the excess water. Dig a 4-6" deep trench around around the perimeter of the garden and fill it with gravel. Then mulch over the surface of the bed to hide the trench. Or, dig a trench and lay perforated pipe and then cover with gravel. This will give the excess water a place to go until it can soak into the soil. Good luck with your garden.
