The Q&A Archives: cutting back "knock out" roses

Question: I have several knock out roses that are getting too large, when and how can I cut them back?

Answer: Knockout roses don't really require maintenance pruning the way shrub roses do, you can remove any dead stems or over-zealous growth at any time of year. I use hedge shears to cut everything down to the same level, but you can selectively cut the branches if you prefer. Best wishes with your garden!
