flowers around trees - Knowledgebase Question

I have an area between 4 pine trees an apple tree and a birch tree. I have given up trying to grow grass and am interested in growing some sort of flower area but dont know what variety will do well in this area can you help?

The planting area is shady, acidic and dry so you'll want flowering plants or groundcovers that prefer those situations. Hostas, Lamium - Spotted Dead Nettles, Vinca minor and Pachysandra are good choices for the site. Best wishes with your landscape.
