I recently visited the "Green Animals Topiary Garden" near Newport, RI. They had a georgeous ultra white daisy with a deep blue/purple center and I just fell in love with it. Do you know what it is?

Unfortunately, I am unable to positively identify your daisy for you. My guess would be either a cultivar of Osteospermum or Arctotis. The mail order company Seed Savers Exchange (ph# 319-382-5990) sells a flower called 'Sky and Ice' (Osteospermum ecklonis) that has white petals and a dark blue center; it grows to a height of about 12". Could this be it?

Most professional gardeners keep detailed records, so it is possible the head gardener there could tell you exactly which plant that is as well as a source for it. Good luck with your search -- the plant sounds lovely!
