I have an ash tree and it is now June and about 1/3 of the tree still has dead leaves on it. The dead leaves are not just on one side they seem to be dispersed throughout, they are on the same branches as live new leaves. It is very perplexing. What could the problem be and what remedies do you suggest....

Sometimes the dead leaves will hang on the plant until new leaves emerge and push them off. Other times there's an insect problem. You'll have to closely inspect the branch and look for cankers or galls. If you find none, then the problem is cultural (environmental) and the tree will eventually drop those dead leaves. Just be patient with it!
