How can I keep my Japanese maple tree leaves from looking like they are dying? I water them around the drip line and feed them with spikes every spring and fall.

With only a few exceptions, Japanese maple trees do best when they get morning sun and protection from hot afternoon sunshine. It may be that the leaves are showing signs of sunburn. Some maple trees will outgrow this as they mature and the foliage becomes better able to endure summer sunshine, but some won't. It will help to know the name of your tree so we can provide exact cultural requirements for your particular maple.
