| You can take tip cuttings and/or you can bend a few branches down so they lay along the ground and propagate through layering. This is often the easiest way to propagate a woody shrub like Zemenia, but you might want to try both ways. Tip cuttings should be about 6" long. Strip the lower leaves, dip the cut end in rooting hormone and place the cuttings in a container filled with moistened potting soil. For layering, simply pull a few of the lower branches down so they lay along the soil and bury it in one or two places, allowing the tip of the branch to remain above ground. Anchor the stem down with rocks or metal pins. Over the summer the buried parts should root and you can clip them away from the parent plant and pot them up on their own.
