In addition to the familiar hibiscus, plumerias, ixoras, bottlebrush and bougainvilleas, you might consider Calliandra haematocephala, the red powderpuff, is a large woody stemmed shrub with red flowers. These shrubs are drought tolerant, preferring soils that remain on the dry side, and although they will take some shade, full sun results in more prolific flowering. The dwarf cultivar ?Nana? grows slowly to no m re than 5?, is a good choice where space is at a premium.
Hope these suggestions help.
