If it is a seed pod then it had to come from a flowering tree, shrub or vine. If you don't have anything in your yard that could have produced it, perhaps it came from a neighboring yard? Wind can blow seedpods from plants, or neighborhood children can throw them over fences. I can't really identify it without seeing it so why not put it in a plastic baggie and take it to your local cooperative extension office, Master Gardener clinic or well staffed nursery for identification help? Once you know what it is, you can probably figure out where it came from. Best wishes with your garden!
