The Q&A Archives: Can I plant vegtables now?

Question: I would like to plant: carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, and any suggestion you have.

Answer: It's getting a little too late in the season to plant carrots, but you can sow seeds of leaf lettuces and set out tomato transplants in June. You can also sow seeds of squash, radishes, and plant sweet potato slips. In your region most garden vegetables should be planted in April or May so mark your calendar for next year so you can get them into the ground earlier next spring and you'll have a terrific harvest.
