I live in Juneau Alaska and have an unintentional pond in my back yard (runoff from the mountain makes a small pool and then runs through my property into a ditch). This has become a mosquito habitat. I can't get rid of the water, but how do I kill them and prevent them from using the pond again? Also pet-safe?

Mosquito Dunks are a form of Bacillus thuringiensis v. israelensis in a solid form. As they float in the water where you put them they slowly release the BT which will control the larvae. If you cannot find them at your local garden center, check with your cooperative extension office for suppliers, or order them online. Good luck with your garden!
