The Q&A Archives: Hostas

Question: Last year something was eating my hostas, what could it be and what can I use to prevent that from happening this year?

Answer: The most likely candidate are slugs or snails. They find hosta leaves irresistable. These pests feed mostly at night so go outdoors with a flashlight after dusk and you'll probably find them. If so, an iron based product such as Sluggo should control them. Apply according to label directions. Good luck with your hostas.
