| I have bermuda grass in one area and gravel in another. The bermuda keeps encroaching into the gravel area by growing under the cement divider. How do I get rid of the grass in the gravel without killing the nearby grass in the lawn? Bermuda sure has strong tentacles. - Ursula |
| Start by using a flat bladed shovel and plunge it down between the turf and the cement divider to sever the roots and the creeping stems of the bermuda. Then use a chemical vegetation killer on the gravel to kill the encroaching bermuda. Be sure to spray carefully - overspray or drift onto your lawn will damage the turf. By first severing the roots and stolons between the turf and the barrier you will keep the herbicide from traveling back to the lawn and killing it out. To keep it from creeping under the cement barrier, just run your shovel between the cement and the turf every few weeks during the growing season. Best wishes with your project. |
