I'm new to composting. I've had a pile going for about 6 mo. & I just noticed bugs in it recently. Are there suppose to be bugs? Some are pill bugs, but not sure about the others.

A healthy compost pile will be teaming with insects of all kinds. It's perfectly normal and natural. Pill bugs are one of nature's foremost decomposers. They feed on organic debris and are helping to break down the material in your compost pile. Just keep doing what you are doing and your finished compost will be rich with nutrients and minerals. That's why we call it black gold. Best wishes with your garden!
