Lily of the Valley is hardy to zone 4, and should grow well in your garden. The plants grow from pips (shoots that grow from the rhizomes) and should be planted or divided in the spring. You'll want to prepare the soil well before planting by adding lots of organic matter. Lily of the Valley likes moist soil, so plan to keep them well watered during the spring and summer months. The plants have a tendancy to naturalize and will need to be divided every three to four years when they become overcrowded.
