I planted over 100 daylilies last year. No blooms this year! How long before they produce flowers?

Daylilies should be planted so the crown is only about one inch below the soil surface. If planted too deeply, they'll refuse to bloom or the blooms will be sparse. Overcrowded daylilies will also be reluctant to bloom. Each division should be spaced about 12 inches apart. If your daylilies are getting about 6 hours of sunlight each day and were planted properly, they should bloom by next year. Daylily divisions should have two fans. If yours had only one when you planted them, they'll need to mature enough to produce additional foliage prior to blooming. Feed your plants with a 12-24-12 fertilizer this year and expect some beautiful blooms next year.
