The Q&A Archives: Fertilizing Centipede

Question: What is the best fertalizer to put on centipede & zoysia grasses? When can you put it on the grass?

Answer: Neither Zoysia nor Centipede grasses need as much fertilizer as some other lawn grasses, but it can turn yellow if the soil is alkaline and low in iron. If this is a problem, spread iron sulphate or iron chelate. Otherwise, just fertilize in the early spring with 1 to 2 pounds of actual nitrogen per 1,000 square feet.
