The Q&A Archives: Help protecting my garden

Question: Is there anything that I can do to get rid of free range chickens? I grow all of my plants using seeds and needless to say these chickens have even came on my porch ! I need help to keep them away from my plants ! They have already cost me well over $200 ! Thank you ahead of time !

Answer: To keep our chickens out of the flower garden I use 12-inch wooden kabob sticks, pointed up, around each newly planted flower. The chickens hate being poked and leave my flowers alone. When the plants get bigger I remove the sticks. Maybe this will work for you, too. Otherwise, you'll need to fence them out of your garden beds. Chicken wire works well (no pun intended!). Good luck with your garden.
