| I seeded and planted my first crop of cantaloupes quite successfully. The plant grew fast and furious and bore several fruits. However, it started to shrivel up and eventually the whole plant died. Is this normal or was it diseased? Please advise. Juliet |
| Guam has only two seasons ? wet and dry ? and just a few crops can tolerate the plant pathogens, insects and excessive moisture of the rainy season. So, planting in the dry season is the best advice I can offer. I think what you describe is normal. Once the plants fully develop fruits and the fruits mature, the vine will die. That's the nature of melon and squash plants. Enjoy your garden! |
