Hi, We recently moved to a new apartment and have a little extra room to plant a garden. I would like a little flower garden but we just lost a dog to bee's. What can I plant that wont attract bee's and wont be harmful to my new puppy? Thank You! |
Nearly any flower will attract bees, so foliage plants might be the safest route as would plants that flower early before too many insects are active. You might consider flowering shrubs such as forsythia, lilac, spirea and viburnum or evergreens such as junipers, arborvitae, or mugo pines. For colorful foliage there are any number of dwarf conifers as well as some shrubs with colorful leaves such as the variegated twig dogwood and the purple leafed plum. You could also consider the ornamental grasses and coleus as well as early spring bulbs. Good luck with your project! |
