| Lots of annuals will grow in the shade, especially impatiens, lobelia, and pansies. Perennials which are happy to grow in the shade include: Astilbe, Bleeding Heart, Coral Bells, Ferns of all kinds, Foxglove, Ginger, Hosta, Lily of the Valley, Lobelia, Monkshood, Pachysandra, Primrose, Solomon's Seal, Toad Lily and purple wintercreeper.
