I would like to create a pea stone and stepping stone garden path that is roughly 30 feet long by 3 feet wide. How do I calculate how much peastone and how many stepping stones to buy? Does Home Depot deliver bulk pea stone? |
Presuming you will use a 3" depth of gravel, you will need 1.5 tons of pea stone gravel (which calculates out to 90 sq.ft of coverage per ton of gravel). You just multiply length times width). If you place only a 2" layer of pea gravel, you will only need one ton. I don't know whether or not your local Home Depot will deliver or if you'll need to order from a sand and gravel place in your neighborhood. The best way to determine how many stepping stones you'll need is to count the number of steps you take comfortably when you walk down the area. If you take small steps, you'll need more stones - fewer if you have a longer stride. Walk in both directions, then walk again. You'll be able to average out the number of steps you normally take and that's how many stones you'll need. Good luck with your project! |
