I have been trying to locate the tree Magnolia 'Elizabeth' - which produces yellow flowers and has a medium height, as regards Magnolia trees. Unfortunately, in my town, I am only able to find Magnolia grandiflora - the typical white flowering magnolia grown all over the south. Do you know of a nursery that produces and sells such a tree?

I believe I've found the magnolia you're looking for! National Gardening Magazine featured an article on these beautiful trees in the March/April 1998 issue. Among the recommended selections is M. acuminata x M. denudata 'Elizabeth', which can reach a height of 20' and has yellow flowers up to 8" across. Now that you have the complete name of the magnolia, you can again check with local nurseries, or mail order one from Louisiana Nursery, 5853 Hwy 182, Opelousas LA 70570; 318/948-3696, or try Sweetbay Farm, 4260 Enon Rd., Coolidge GA 31738; 912/225-1688. Enjoy!
