The Q&A Archives: artichokes

Question: I purchased an artichoke plant at a store. and I'm wondering how long it takes to mature?

Answer: Artichokes are perennial plants and normally develop buds in mid summer. The chokes are usually harvested in late August or early September, when the globes are 4-6" in diameter. I don't know how old your plant is and whether or not it will produce this year, but it will certainly produce next year for you. Enjoy!
