I want to dig out a small area of my front lawn (half circle shape near driveway) and plant a nice arrangement of plants. One taller and the rest lower with bright colors. I want plants that require little water/maintenance. The area gets sun and faces south in Moreno Valley, CA area.
Thank you

There are tons of colorful annuals and perennials you can plant that are drought tolerant and sun loving. Consider ornamental grasses for height - Japanese Blood Grass is a burgundy red - and rattlesnake grass develops interesting seed heads; verbena, salvia, dwarf bottlebrush, lantana, purple coneflower, coreopsis, nasturtium and zinnias are all good choices. Enjoy your new garden!
