I have 2 fushias hanging on the north side of my house. They do get some sun, not much. What would cause them to have the leaves with yellow splotchs on them and then fall off. The flowers seem to fall of way to much too. New growth seems to look great. Please help. |
Fuchsias grow best in shade, although some filtered morning sun is okay but afternoon sun can be too hot. I wonder if the yellow splotches on the leaves are from sunburn? They like moist soil and to grow full and bushy should be pinched back often. The flowers really only last a few days but if you pinch off the spent flowers the plants will grow lots of new stems and flowers, constantly renewing the plants. Pick off the damaged leaves to encourage new foliage and pinch back the growing tips of the stems to encourage branching. As long as your fuchsia is getting mostly bright shade, lots of water and occasional feeding with a water soluable fertilizer - and if you remember to remove the spent flowers and pinch back the stem tips on a regular basis, your fuchsias should thrive. Enjoy! |
