Answer: Fast growing trees tend to develop surface roots and doing so is quite normal. Sometimes you can encourage young trees to send their roots down deeper into the soil by watering deeply but infrequently. However, once you see surface roots developing, there's not much you can do to change things. The surface roots won't need any special care. Where they are exposed they will develop a tough bark for protection. Good luck with your trees!
