The Q&A Archives: How do I rid my rose bush of insects and bugs

Question: I had aphids and got rid of those but this yr. I have what appears like tiny green catepillars eating the leaves on my rose bush. How do I get rid of them??

Answer: Caterpillars can be controlled with the botanical Bt (bacillus thuringensis), sold as Dipel or Thuricide. It targets caterpillars only and is quite effective. If you are finding other insect pests on your rose bush you might want to try the neem oil based insecticide called Rose Defense. It is effective against lots of insect pests. Be sure to read the label and apply according to label directions. Good luck with your rose bush.
