Answer: Caterpillars can be controlled with the botanical Bt (bacillus thuringensis), sold as Dipel or Thuricide. It targets caterpillars only and is quite effective. If you are finding other insect pests on your rose bush you might want to try the neem oil based insecticide called Rose Defense. It is effective against lots of insect pests.
