I have tried your copper tape and other remedies,,wiithout success. The BEER in the saucer didn't do much either..I've lost a lot of things, beans, cukes, squash plants, but not the beets or the carrots. Why.?

Carrot foliage isn't all that fleshy and tasty to snails; beet leaves aren't either. I use a product called Sluggo to control slugs and snails. It is an iron based product, harmless to people and pets, and whatever is not consumed by slugs and snails biodegrades into simple iron, which can enrich the soil. Apply according to label directions.
