| Honeysuckles develop flowers on the new growth of the season so pruning it back hard in the early spring (way down.... to about 12" above soil level) is the best way to encourage healthy new growth. During the summer months you can prune at will. Reduce the height, clip off errant stems, whatever it takes to get your plant back under control. You won't hurt it. In fact, it will just grow more vigorously. Don't be afraid to cut it back as much and as often as necessary to keep it under control. Best wishes with your landscape. |
