The Q&A Archives: Dead heading roses

Question: When my roses bloom then dry out do i need to cut back the ends that are dried?

Answer: When the flowers fade, cut off the flowering stem all the way down to a 5-leaflet leaf. This is where new flowering stems will emerge. It also keeps your rosebush looking attractive when you remove the entire flowering stem. Enjoy your roses!
