| Although the burlap will eventually decompose, while it is doing so it can slow or stop the roots from venturing out into the soil and establishing themselves. Most tree experts recommend removing the burlap completely before planting. It is especially important to remove the ties that are attaching the burlap to the crown or trunk of the tree. If you planted your trees with the burlap still attached, it will eventually rot away. If you are concerned that it might be affecting your tree's health you can always dig the tree, remove the burlap and replant the tree. Obviously the roots will be in the same space as they were when you planted them so digging and replanting won't be too difficult. Hope this answers your question. |
