| there is an infected shrub in the backyard. My gardening friend suggestive the use of Bonide systemic insect control, acephate. It seems very toxic. Is there an organic subsittute that may be less dangerous and scary. thanks |
| Permethrin is a botanical insecticide and one of the oldest, and most common, of the pyrethroid insecticides. It is widely available and is sold under a large number of different brand names (Ambush, Dragnet, Ectiban, Kestrel, NRDC 143, Pounce, PP 557, Pramex, Qamlin, Torpedo, Martin?s Vegetables Plus, Bonide Eight Vegetable, Fruit & Flower, and Hi-Yield Garden, Pet & Livestock Insect Control are examples). Permethrin is labeled for use on many different vegetable crops ornamental flowers and shrubs, and is effective against many beetle, bug, and caterpillar pests. Because it controls so many different insect pests and is labeled on most vegetables and landscape plants, this is probably one of the most useful insecticides for home gardeners to keep on hand.
