why are my peas turning yellow

Peas prefer to grow in cool temperatures and should be planted in March in your gardening region so they can be harvested in May, before the weather gets too hot. I think the heat is getting to your plants. You can plant seeds in late August and the peas will be ready to harvest before your first hard frost. Best wishes with your garden!
