The Q&A Archives: Planting Strawberries in the fall

Question: I live in Georgia and was wondering if it would be a good idea to plant strawberry plants in September for harvest next year?

Answer: Your plan sounds like a good one. Strawberry picking season runs from April through June in Georgia, especially if the spring weather cooperates! I'd plant them in early fall. They will establish and flower during the cooler months and the berries should ripen in April. Enjoy!
