I had one plant in a tub with other things. The plant was doing beautiful and ful. In two days it destroyed all but a little of the plant from about 6in to 1/2in. I have it in a tub so I can't water it down as I live in an apt and no hose hookups. I plant all my plants in pots or the tub or the new hanging bags.

I guess handpicking the worms is the best thing to do. There is a botanical called Bt (bacillus thuringensis) which is sold as Dipel or Thuricide. It targets only caterpillars and can be used up to a few days before harvest. You might want to read the label to see if it is suitable for your basil. Best wishes with your container garden!
