The Q&A Archives: lillyof the nile

Question: Last spring my lillys bloomed this year they did not. They are a good size plant but they are still in pots. Any ideas?

Answer: Lack of sunshine is about the only reason a lily of the nile won't bloom but since yours is in a pot, could it be that the roots are overcrowded? Sometimes overcrowding will keep the roots in competition for moisture and nutrients. Check to make sure your plants still have plenty of root space, and give them plenty of sunshine. If they still won't bloom, try a bloom boosting fertilizer such as a 10-20-10 ratio of NPK. Good luck with your plants!
